Jeff and Jane Bulman Jeff and Jane Bulman own all three Original Pancake House franchises in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The couple began their venture into the world of pancakes in early 1991, when they opened the Bethesda, Maryland location. After lots of hard work and great success, the Bulmans opened the second area location in Rockville, Maryland in 1996, followed by the Falls Church, Virginia restaurant in March of 2000. Jeff Bulman worked in furniture sales, interior design, remodeling and construction for many years, eventually owning his own building company. In the early 1990s, Jeff decided to change careers when a friend introduced him to the Original Pancake House. Impressed with the quality of the food, high standards, and family appeal, Jeff and a business partner visited several Original Pancake Houses across the country. They met with the Original Pancake House to discuss franchising in the Washington, D.C. area, opening the first area Original Pancake House at Bethesda Place near Wisconsin Avenue and Old Georgetown Road in March of 1991. After a few years, Jeff bought out his partner and today he and his wife Jane are the sole owners of the D.C. area franchises. Jane Bulman joined Jeff full-time in 2001 after a long career as a special education teacher and social worker, as well as owning a retail distributing business. Their combined experience in business prepared them for the day-to-day demands of a busy multi-unit restaurant franchise. Jane’s background in social work has also served them well. Their dedication to providing thorough training for their employees and a family-like business atmosphere has resulted in a very loyal staff who provides exceptional service to their customers. Likewise, a strong connection to their local communities has led them to host monthly charitable fundraisers in each of their restaurants, contributing thousands of dollars each year to local organizations.
